Dystopian Sci-Fi vs. Reality

This made me giggle! Although to be honest I know a lot of people who aren’t finding current events particularly amusing…

But if you happen to be one of those people who are finding recent events disturbing here is something to remember: Accepting those things we cannot change frees us...

It’s so easy for many of us to get caught up in other people’s lives. We so often assume that we know what’s best for others and it can feel really natural to think we should be telling them what they ‘should’ do. A lot of people like to think of themselves as caretakers, but maybe it’s time to back off and let our loved ones fend for themselves?

What this really means is allowing them make their own decisions and live with their own consequences.

Let them make their own mistakes. You can’t change other people. You may be able to make others feel guilty enough so that they gave in and do things your way. And you may win many power struggles. But ultimately you can’t claim ownership of anyone else’s mind, and you aren’t the caretaker of anyone else’s lives.

You may feel diminished by your lack of control initially, but after a little while you’ll love the freedom of living only your own live give you. The extra time you’ll have and the peace you’ll find will help us.
